Strainer basket filter made of acid-resistant stainless steel 1.4539
Today we would like to give you an insight into one of our latest projects.We were allowed to design and manufacture several strainer basket filters, also called dirt traps or pot dirt traps, for our customer.
Some may ask what is so special about a strainer basket filter?
The challenge in this project was that our customer had to use stainless steel 1.4539 (AISI 904L) for the material resistance of the wetted materials. Stainless steel 1.4539 offers a very high resistance to inorganic and organic acids. Usually, you can find a wide range of strainers on the market, but they are usually made of the stainless steel casting 1.4408.
We implemented the desired strainer basket filters as a welded construction and were thus able to manufacture the housings and materials in contact with the media from 1.4539 without any problems.
The strainer basket filters were manufactured in the nominal width DN 200, the nominal pressure and thus also the flange connection according to DIN EN 1092-1 was PN 10.
The strainer basket filters particles up to a diameter / grain size of Ø 4 mm. Of course, we can adapt the perforation on customer request and depending on the application. The screen basket in our design is held / clamped purely mechanically and is designed to withstand flow and cavitation forces. The vent plugs on the housing cover and the drain plugs on the dished bottom were sealed with highly resistant novaflon® 500 gaskets. For the X-ray tests (RT test) of the weld seams, as well as the material approvals, we have of course complied with the applicable standards, statutory regulations, the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU and the AD2000 regulations. To make handling easier for our customers during assembly, we have fitted CE-approved eyebolts in the housing covers.
