Tank Sight Glass Type 317 PN 0
Our round tank sight glasses type 317 (PN 0) are welded onto or into a vessel wall to allow observation or illumination of the inside of the vessel. Based on DIN 28120, ACI tank sight glasses type 317 are designed as a lightweight version for pressureless operation. A sight glass made of chemically highly resistant borosilicate glass DIN 7080 (or similar) is clamped between two high-quality stainless steel flanges and proven quality seals.
The type 317, unlike the types 318 and 320, is not intended as a pressure-retaining design, but as a pure sight port. This makes type 317 significantly lighter and thinner than other commercially available tank sight glasses.
Despite the lower requirements, our tank sight glasses of type 317 are made of the same high-quality stainless steel 1.4571 (316Ti) that our customers have appreciated for years. The glass material used is the industry-proven borosilicate glass 3.3 according to DIN 7080 (or similar). The sealing of the fitting is done with flat gaskets adapted to your needs from an extensive range of materials, which, in addition to the widely used fibre gaskets, also offers more sophisticated materials such as PTFE (Teflon®), NBR, graphite and many branded gaskets.
If the maximum operating temperature of 280°C does not meet your requirements, or if the process conditions pose a problem even for the highly resistant borosilicate glass, an FEP or mica protective screen specially adapted for the fitting offers additional protection against steam and aggressive chemicals, such as alkalis up to a pH value of 14.
Like other of our sightglass fittings, the type 317 can be equipped with wiper type SGW, spray devices or lights on request.
