A renowned tank builder approached us with an interesting request. A longitudinal sight glass fitting was to be adapted to the inner wall of the container. These adaptations are often made in the pharmaceutical and food industries. This is to prevent dead spaces as far as possible, as otherwise a breeding ground for germs and deposits can form in the production process. After completion of all welding work, the interior of the container should be reworked by the customer and the surface polished.

We have already made such fittings several times. The interesting innovation for us was that not only a simple radius is attached to the base frame.

For the base and top frame, our customer chose the high-quality stainless steel 1.4571 (F316Ti). Since the material thickness influences the type of inspection certificate according to EN 10204, we had to have the raw material of the base frame restamped by an independent body for this design. The raw materials used could thus be certified with an acceptance test certificate according to EN 10204 - 3.2. We were also able to pass on to our customer the corresponding material approvals according to AD2000 leaflet W2/W10.
